The Inspiration

The 1530s is a transitional decade, from earlier styles that focused on massive volumes of fabric, to the later fashion which focused on slim to tight fitting garments. This is the last time that the Venetian waistline is straight across the waist without a point. This is also the last time the body linen figures as prominently in the outside of the garment. After this point in time, body linen becomes tiny strips, or not seen at all. The center front opening is now the golden standard.
